"Tarawa:
War Without Mercy" : The Tarawa Atoll was the site of a
titanic clash of cultures. In November of 1943, United States forces
assaulted this tiny island, smaller than Central Park, with 5000
marines. Holding the tiny sandspit were 4500 battle-hardened Japanese
Imperial Marines. Overconfident and underinformed, the Japanese
commander boasted that " A million men could not take Tarawa
in a thousand years..." US Marines did so in 76 hours.
We look at this cultural chasm through the lens of history, and
follow the story to its tragic, yet triumphant conclusion. |

"Extreme
Explosives" : The History of explosives is traced from
its origins in ancient China through the devastating weapons of
today. Through both contemporary and historical footage, we look
at the exponential growth of man's ability to kill and destroy
his fellows.
